Regatta weekend at Waiake
Every December several hundred young sailors and their families fill the bay for the Sir Peter Blake Regatta. The apartments sit right on Aickin Reserve, where the boats and trailers gather: from here you see the rigging, the launching and the fleets coming back in. Walk down to the boat park in the morning, and come back for a hot shower, a laundry load and a quiet dinner at night.
