Weddings & Family Events

Two apartments side by side, a reserve and a beach at the end of the road, and a bay that looks the part in every season. In March 2026 a wedding party got ready with us, married under the trees beside Deep Creek, and had their photographs taken on the beach with the Tor behind them. Here is how it works.

The whole party under one roof

Each apartment sleeps four with its own kitchen, laundry and outdoor space, so a family of eight — or the couple in one and parents in the other — can stay together with doors to close. Ask us about taking both apartments for a weekend — or for the whole wedding week. If the wedding or the reception is at Torbay Sailing Club, the clubhouse is a hundred metres along the sand from our gate, so the visiting family walks there and back along the beach; venues elsewhere in Torbay, Long Bay and Browns Bay are a few minutes' drive. Either way the family stays together, two minutes from the water.

Getting ready

Light, quiet rooms, a private terrace and a spa bath — and a front door that photographs well. The car arrives at the gate; the beach is two minutes away for the first pictures.

A ceremony in the reserve

Aickin Reserve, between our garden and the beach, has lawns under old trees beside Deep Creek and looks straight out to the Tor. Outdoor ceremonies on council reserves need an Auckland Council event permit, which is straightforward — we can point you to the right form.

The Tor, the sand at low tide, the Norfolk pines and the sailing club's dinghies: the bay gives a photographer a dozen backdrops within a hundred metres, and the light in the late afternoon is the reason people marry here in March.

A venue on the sand

Torbay Sailing Club's clubhouse — rebuilt in 2016, on the beach itself — can be hired for receptions, wedding breakfasts and family gatherings. Bookings are through the club. It is a hundred metres from our front door, and many of the parties who celebrate there book the apartments for their guests: the ideal place to stay, just a short walk there along the sand, and a short walk back, to retire after a busy night of celebrations.

Birthdays, reunions and the long weekend

Not only weddings: a milestone birthday, a family reunion with the grandparents next door, or a long-weekend gathering after a sailing regatta all fit the two apartments. Tell us the occasion and we will help with the rest — from cake orders to where to swim.
